Paris

Paris

I have been very often in Paris and I like this city. This time we had been in Bagneux, a quarter not so far from the center. Nice restaurents and bars, typical Paris. Unfortunately we saw not so much from the city itself because we had to work the whole day.

A couple of years ago I was in Paris for a training and managed to go to the city in the afternoon and hang around in some Brasseries. That was a lot of fun. And the first time, I was in Paris is at least 20 years ago. I stayed there with a girl friend for a whole week and we were able to see all the tourist locations you just have to see: Tour Eiffel, Montmartre, Louvre and so on.

Austin Texas

Austin Texas

I had to go to a meeting in Austin, Texas. Our company has a subsidiary there. Austin is a very nice city. Totally different to New York.

I have never been in this part of the US and am very surprised. I have been in California almost 20 years ago, and I have been in New York for several times, but all regions are different.

It is flat, in the middle of the country which means that you fly with the plan for hours over land which always looks the same. We flew in from Canada and had half the day wood, fields and small towns beneath us. We landed in Atlanta, Georgia, where you could see a lot of new houses grouped into lanes as you can see it in TV series from US.

Austin has a small center with a few sky scrapers. Austin is the head quarter of Dell, and there are the government and the university of Texas there. This explains also the big difference to for example New York. In Austin, there are crowds of  people doing sports, running, biking and so on, what you can not see in Connecticut for example.

Karlskirche

Karlskirche

We were visiting Vienna together with my parents. It was a birthday present to my father. My parents never have been in Vienna up to now so they had a lot of pleasure. We booked rooms in Burgenland, in a small village at the “Neusiedlersee” which is a big lake near the border to Hungary.

From there we started a daily travel to Vienna with the train. Vienna is only one hour away from there and the train brings you to the “Südbahnhof”. From there you can just walk to one of the famous places of Vienna, the “Belvedere”, a castle with a huge garden.

We did a lot of the famous locations for example the “Karlskirche” and had a lot of fun. The people in Vienna a very kindly and the city is very clean. Vienna a worth a visit. We will return as soon as possible.

Milford

Milford

It was my first time in New York and on the east coast of America. I really love America since I have been in California 15 years ago. But east coast and west coast are slightly different. And New York of course is very special by itself.

What me surprised the most was the marvelous food and beer you can have there. We had to go to a subsidiary of our company in Milford in Connecticut. Connecticut is a very beautiful country. Milford is located on the coast and about 2 car hours north from New York.

I had never in my life such a good pizza as in Milford and I had never in my life such a big quantity of different beer you could order. I can remeber a beer called “Blue moon”, one called “Red hat”. You could have dark beer like in Ireland, wheet beer tasting like bavarian beer and normal beer. One of these I tried had an apple flavor. Very nice …
