I had to travel to Gothemburg for business exactly at the day which is the longest day in year. At this time, the it is not getting really dark in the night.

First, I thought it can not be so bad, that you can not sleep. But I really could not sleep with with open windows. In the middle of the night it is so bright in the night, that it is not possible to sleep. Must have to do something with the human hormones. I woke up ever and ever until I decided to darken the window. Really fascinating, at 10 pm it is still so bright, that you can read a newspaper outside.

Königrätz is a famous city because the was a battle between Austria and Preussen in the 18th century. We took a taxi from Praha to this city north east to Praha and when we travelled back, we had a rest of a few hours in Praha. We sat in the center in a nice restaurent and had some beers.

This was the last mountain I climbed last year, in November, and it is the first mountain, I climbed this year.

But today, I did it a little bit slower than last time. I was quite exhausted, because yesterday we had done a very strong tour with the racing bike. And in addition, Kleiner Mythen is the last 10 minutes very dangerous. Here is a foto from the top of Kleiner Mythen back to its brother Grosser Mythen.

I did not eat anything because I thought that we are soon at home from the top. But the remaing 30 minutes were very hard. I had that kind of “hunger attack” you get while biking, when you get hungry and do not eat immediatly. When we were at home finally, I went to the fridge and ate what ever I found.

You never know, if you are really interested in a sport. That is my motto and I try not to invest too much money at the beginning.

Now I did my first 100 kilometers and I must say, that I already like my new bike. Its wonderful to speed down streets with about 60 kilometers per hour. And it is also much fun to go up the hills, exhausting, but a lot of fun.

My neightbour and me, we both have a new racing bike, and here in the mountains, its seems as if we have the wrong gears. It is very hard to go up the hills though we bought a bike with smaller gears. My neightbour thinks, we should just try going on until we are strong enough. But we could also change the front wheels to have three instead of two.

This year, we did it for the third time. The “Grand prix de Bern” is one of the most fascinating running races I know because there are such a lot of people starting. This year, there was a new record in participating runners. More than 22 thousand in the 10 miles category.

I had a good race. I am not sure if I were faster than last year. But one thing is sure. The personal impression of the race is that it is over faster from year to year. This might be because with the time you know the race already. Of course in the first year, all was new and you one had the impression, that the 16 kilometers took a quite long time. Not so this year. All was over after a couple of minute, was my feeling. But I had a similar time than last year. Funny.

After the race we always stay for a couple of hours in Bern. It is such a nice city. We first went to the “Bundeshaus” and had a beer in front of it in one of the many restaurents there. After this we went to a already known restaurent, where we had nice food, after the exhausting race. I like it.

This year I started training already in April. I made no pause between cross country sking and biking and running. Two week after scross country sking was not possible any more because snow has been melted away, I did my first short run, already 12 kilometers. I lost almost nothing of my strength, running 12 kilometers was just fun. I did one of my preferable routes around the lake.

And I also started already running from the office home, which is about 22 kilometers. Same with the bike. It is just April and I am already able to go over 20 kilometers without a problem. This year I should be faster in the running races. We will see, first race is “Grand Prix de Bern” in May.

It was already becoming dark when I took this foto. I looks cold, as it was in fact. I am coming down from the hills to the lake from where it is just one kilometer to my home.

This year I participated the first time the marathon in Engadin. The race starts at the highest point in the valley and goes continuously down. The difference in altitude is about 200 meters.

We had to stand up at 2:30 in the morning, went with the car to Landquart, from there by train to St. Moritz and further to Maloya by bus. At approximatly 6:30 we arrived.

It was very very cold, below 15 degree I think. We put our skiers to the start point and waited in a small church where it was warm.

The race was exciting. We started in front of 5000 other people and within a few minutes thousands were before me.

But later, I were able to overtake more and more. 42 kilometers is quite a long distance and you have enough time to gain places. In the middle the route goes through a wood where the trace becomes very narrow so that very often you had to wait to come forward.

I finished below 3 hours which means that I am allowed to start two blocks earlier next year. The race is such a fun. There are more than 10.000 starters. From now on, I will try to participate every year. It´s just fun. The whole day was an adventure. We were back at home at 5 pm.

The man in the blue jacket in the middle of the foto is me.

We go every year to Mauterndorf, to my parents. In the last couple of year we always went there in March, when sun is already becoming stronger but snow is still on the montains. March is the best time for skiing in my opinion. In March, there is the most snow of the whole winter, and there is normally the most sun shining in winter.

We had luck this year, the first few days were really bretty: Sun and snow! As I am not used to do skiing, the first day was quite hard for me. We went down the slopes, but I had not the fun I normally feel when skiing. But the second day was alrady better and on the third day, my love for skiing was back.

The picture is from Mauterndorf, there is a nice skiing area in this village. We were there on our first day and took a break in one of the huts for a beer and tipical Austrian food. Very nice!

Since I have an iPhone, my wish was to create my own iPhone application. But not so easy as I immediately saw.

First, you have to have a MAC where you can install the iPhone development studio. This was the biggest problem. I buyed an old MAC on ebay but found out, that the MAC I had bought was to old. And after three months it died.

Months later I had the opportunity to buy a Netbook from a friend. And the guy had installed MAC OS on this Netbook. So the biggest hurdle was taken.

The rest was quite simple. For an experienced developer it is not so hard, to learn a new development language within a few days. And after two week or so, I were able to publish my first application.

The application is similar to something I already did years ago for PCs. It is a software which draws a triangle. You can move the corners of the triangle and the most important special points, lines and circles of a triangle are drawn.
